Homepage Broken Glass Studios is proud to present Thief's Den, a short alpha demo of The Dark Mod. The Dark Mod is a total conversion for Doom3, supporting both Windows and Linux. Thief's Den is just a few rooms but it is a complete, fully playable mission, and includes a good selection of the main Dark Mod features. Keep in mind that The Dark Mod is still a work in progress and this is reflected in the demo. Voices are temporary placeholders, for example, and AI behaviour is not yet fully developed. You will certainly find bugs and glitches but we hope that doesn't spoil your enjoyment too much. Instructions for download and installation of the alpha on Linux can be found in the related wiki.

Homepage | Article Last night NVIDIA quietly uploaded a new Linux display driver to their FTP server. This new driver is tagged 171.05, while the latest public driver has been 169.09. Having already three releases in the 169.xx series, this is a moderate update to 171.xx, but according to NVIDIA it's not for everyone. There is no official change-log that NVIDIA has published for the 171.05 driver, and the change-log that ships with the driver hasn't been updated (whether it be intentional or not). The only word that has come out of the NVIDIA camp on this new driver is from Christian Zander and he has said that this driver is only intended for use with the Tesla S870 GPU Computing Systems. The legacy NVIDIA Linux drivers have also been updated this week.

Okay, time for a new development release. This release does fix the bugs in the development branch that were already fixed in the stable branch with 1.2.8. Beside this some other things were fixed, for example should Windows users now again be able to use the multiplayer and the add-on server (at least once the Windows binary is out). There are more new and changed things but if you want some more info about what changed, have a look at this forum thread. As with the last development releases, we continue to offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache... At the moment only the OpenSolaris binaries are ready, but once the others are done you can find them at the download page. Please keep in mind that it is a development release which might include quite a few bugs. If you find one, please report it. Update: The MacOSX binaries are now available at the download page. Update 2: The Windows binaries are now available at the download page. Soon the server will be updated to only support 1.3.12.

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed! ScummVM. Do you hear it? Do you smell a new version? It's now here. And as usual and regularly, it is packed with tons of new features. Hold on, and take a look at the list:
  • Support for the FREEWARE adventure Lure of the Temptress (available for download here)
  • Seven other new supported games: I Have no Mouth, and I Must Scream, Elvira 1 and 2, Waxworks (Amiga version only) and 3 Sierra pre-AGI games for children
  • Two newly available ports: iPhone and Maemo
  • Support for the Mac version of The Legend of Kyrandia and the Amiga version of Nippon Safes
  • Better support for Sierra AGI games
  • Improved support for modern 64-bit systems
  • Support for FLAC encoded music in Broken Sword 1 for the purists among you
  • Better support for non-English versions of games, including eastern languages
  • Sound compression for SAGA games
  • Much much more."
